Orthodontics is such a rewarding profession. I get to see people transformed, not only in appearance, but also in personality and self-esteem as they go through the process of orthodontic treatment. I am so excited to go into the office each day and visit with patients. I get to change lives for the better, and there’s nothing better than that!
Our patients are the best! They are fun, good people, and we have a great time together. I feel privileged to have been serving the wonderful people in Lewiston and the surrounding communities with quality orthodontic care for the past 14 years.
My Care Philosophy
I am what is called a functional, bio-progressive orthodontist. I love to be able to take children with skeletal deficiencies and help grow their jaws and correct them at the optimal time. I realize that most people are mainly concerned with straight teeth. As I look at it, the end result will fulfill that goal of straight teeth, but I get to help change the foundation of the bite. My results will be evident 40 years from now when my patients still have all their teeth and aren’t paying for extensive dental work because the bite was corrected as a child. For my adult patients, I am all about correct function. With the new techniques in orthodontics today, we are able to do so much more to correct a bad bite without surgery than in the past.
Education and Experience
I attended Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating 3rd in my class with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1993. I completed my Advanced Education in General Dentistry through the US Army Dental Corp in Fort Carson, Colorado. There, I received specialized training in oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, and orthodontics.
For two-and-a-half years, I served as a general dentist at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. During this time, I also served as the XO (Executive Officer) of the 464th Medical Company during Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia Conflict).
In 1997, I was accepted to an orthodontic residency at the University of Louisville, Kentucky where I not only received my Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics, but also received my Master’s Degree in Oral Biology with my thesis, Treating Class III Malocclusions in Children with Expansion and Facemask Protraction. I graduated 2nd in my class in 1999.
Upon graduation from my orthodontic residency, I continued my service in the US Army and served as Chief of Orthodontics at the Ft. Bragg Bravo Program. I taught orthodontics for two years while also maintaining a practice in orthodontics where surgical correction was the focus to support the oral surgery program at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
Continuing Education and Professional Affiliations
I attend close to 30 hours of continuing education every year, as do my team. We feel that we should be up to date on the latest technology and techniques in orthodontics. We also use the best braces in the industry. There are definitely cheaper brackets out there, but I have always been more concerned with the quality of what we do more than using equipment and supplies that are inferior. We feel that our patients deserve to not only be treated the best by our team, they also deserve to have the best in their mouth as they go through their orthodontic experience.

Family and Community
I have been married to my wife, Eddieka, since 1989. We have six children, two of whom have passed away, our baby daughter, Jenna, in 1993 and our son, Hunter, who died in a four-wheeler accident in 2012. He was 13 years old. Losing these precious children has been a tremendous heartbreak for us. We do believe that our family is eternal and that we will one day be reunited with them again. We have 3 daughters that are married to wonderful men. Currently, two of our daughters, IlaMarie Palmer and Julianne Hammon are living in Lewiston with their spouses, Chase Palmer and Braeden Hammon. Our other daughter, Andriana McRae and her husband, Alex, are attending BYU-I in Rexburg, ID. Our other son, Trevor keeps us young. He is 13 years old and such a blessing to us! We also have two grandchildren; Ridge who was born to IlaMarie and Chase in 2015 and Everly who was born to Julianne and Braeden in 2016. We are so excited to be grandparents! We feel extremely blessed to have the family that we do and the opportunity to live in this beautiful valley.
Church is a big part of our lives. Eddieka and I serve as leaders in our church organization. We support many community organizations, including 4-H, Boys and Girls Club, AAU team sponsorships, VYSA and Valley Thunder Soccer teams, DECA, and FFA. I am also the Scout Master for Troop 145 in the Boy Scouts of America. I think it is important to give back and support the kids and the activities that help to develop productive people for the future.
Dr. Christensen, our children and I moved to Lewiston, ID in May 2001 from Fayetteville, North Carolina where Bret was serving in the US Army. We were all so excited to embark on this new adventure and open Bret's orthodontic practice and make it on our own. We experienced great success and growth rapidly which we were very excited and grateful for.

Over the years, I have helped the office in numerous ways including cleaning the office, sterilization, office manager and administrative assistant. I enjoyed the great blessing of being home to raise our children and being able to help out when I could. Today, I work from home doing payroll and working in marketing for the practice.
Bret and I have met some wonderful people over the years that have come into our lives as employees, patients and parents.
Today, we have one of the best orthodontic teams that we have ever had. They continue to amaze us with their talent, kindness and work ethic. We can see how much they love what they do.
Even on those hard days, I can see how much my husband loves what he does. Treating patients and seeing the life-changing results that he experiences from his profession is so gratifying. It has been a wonderful blessing to be here in Lewiston and continue to nurture and create relationships every day.
I, like my sister, IlaMarie, and all the Christensen children, have been working in the office since I was very young. After I graduated from high school in 2012, I trained in the financial area of the office. I have worked in treatment coordinating and as a scheduling coordinator, also. Currently, I am the graphic designer in the office and help in marketing the practice. I truly look out for the best interest of the practice, Dr. C., the team, and especially the patients.
I graduated from BYU-Idaho in 2014 and I am pursuing my dreams and passions as a graphic designer. I married my sweetheart, Braeden Hammon on March 1, 2014 in the LDS Rexburg, Idaho Temple. We love spending our free time with our spunky daughter, Everly and our energetic German Shepherd, Ariez. We are so excited to be welcoming a new little one to our family in March 2018!
I started working for Dr. Christensen in June of 2010, but started working in the dental field in 2006. I am one of our treatment coordinators, so I see new patients for consultations. I have an Associate’s Degree and my certification in Dental Assisting from the College of Southern Idaho. I am also high-speed hand piece certified. I enjoy interacting with our wonderful patients and their families on a daily basis. I love working for Dr. C. because he is fun, spontaneous, and there is never a dull moment. My team members are always keeping me on my toes and have great attitudes that are fun to be around. I wouldn't trade my doctor or team!
My husband and I are enjoying being parents to Grady, a fun, spunky, sweet, toddler is always surprising us. I also enjoy spending time at the cabin with family and friends, hunting, four-wheeling, and spending time at home with my family. I love the life God has blessed me with and would not trade any of it for the world!
I started working in sterilization in high school. After I graduated from high school in 2009, I started assisting chairside when I was home from college during the summers. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from BYU-Idaho in July of 2013 and started working as a treatment coordinator in the office, but I also assist in the clinic when needed. I am a Certified Dental Assistant and have my high-speed handpiece certification. I am currently working as a lab technician in the office, as well. I love that I have had the opportunity to work in almost every position in the office so that I can jump in and help wherever I am needed. I love coming to work because Dr. C. and the team members I work with are dedicated, hardworking and we are able to have fun at the same time. We also really care about our patients!
I married my high school sweetheart in the LDS Columbia River Temple in Richland, WA in July of 2012 and welcomed our son, Ridge, in January, 2015. We love being parents and watching him grow and learn new skills every day. In my free time, I make and sell cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.
In May 2017, I was hired as an orthodontic assistant at Christensen Orthodontics. The first thing I noticed after working here is the amazing team. I love getting to work with all of these fabulous people who make work so fun. Its a great feeling to enjoy coming to work everyday and getting to help people on their journey to amazing smiles. I grew up here in the Lewis-Clark Valley and graduated from Clarkston High School in 2013. I love the outdoors and adventure. I have a dog named Kyzer and he is just like a child to me! You can find us on the weekends playing in the dog kiddy pool or hiking at Hells Gate State Park.
I started working for Dr. Christensen in October 2017. Born and raised in the LCV and am now raising my son Treyten here as well. I am training to be the Lab Technician, which is making all those fun shiny appliances for your mouth. I am loving my new job; the team has been so inviting and helpful. I am so happy and blessed to be working for such a Great, kind-hearted Doctor!
